In The Beginning
Nancy Barton Whitley started Barton's Angels in 1997 to continue the legacy of her ancestor Clara Barton by providing elder care and relief staffing for individuals with disabilities in the Pioneer Valley. After over 20 years in human services, Nancy took her marketing, management and human resources skills and began researching available local services. She heard many horror stories from baby boomers and others who found themselves caring for their parents, and often, their children. Living too far away to be able to provide the necessary daily care and check-ins frustrated some. Others worried about hiring caregivers and the complications of background checks, social security and taxes, covering vacations or sick time and all the other details of employment.
What was missing was dignity for the individuals and choices for the family. Nancy wanted it to be easier for the families to get the care they needed so they could have peace of mind and enjoy being together. Before she knew it, she was saying yes to families and agencies that needed caregivers!
Angels Chosen Especially For You...
Barton's Angel's mission is to find out what your needs are specific to you and schedule the right "angels" to meet your needs. Barton's Angels focuses on private home care services to elders and their families. Agencies serving people with disabilities also use Barton's Angels to supplement their staff. Because services are paid for privately, there are not the restrictions and limitations which are required by Medicare or other insurance funded services. YOU are the boss.
Angels At Your Service....
"Angels" love to be helpful in just about anyway. Services are individualized based on your situation. Some people need help with errands, some with housekeeping, some with personal care (bathing), some with special projects. Angels are employees of Barton's Angels and are covered by Worker's Compensation and Professional Liability insurances. Customers pay an hourly rate for services, with a minimum of 2 hours to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Hiring Your Angel.....
Elders, individuals with disabilities, family members, and friends can get the ball rolling by calling Nancy Whitley at any reasonable hour. We may have staff available for your needs. If not, then we would need to recruit additional "angels" with you in mind. Many times it is helpful to meet to have a face to put with the names. Our initial meeting is always free of charge and you are in no way obligated by that meeting.
